- Plasterboard a hired tradesperson removes can't go to any site
- Tyres can be taken to the recycling centres, but the council gives no limit or price on the page we checked
- The council's bulky collection takes neither

Plasterboard
The council lists 12 recycling centres that take plasterboard from your own home. In the city, only Longley Lane is on that list. Sandfold Lane isn't, so a trip there with plasterboard in the boot is wasted. The page we checked gives no limit, no price and no bagging rule, so ask on the day.
If a tradesperson did the work
If you hired someone to remove it, the council treats it as business waste and it can't be disposed of at any of the sites. The plasterer or builder has to take it away. Put that in the quote. See rubble and building waste in Manchester for the rest of the DIY rules.
Tyres
The council says tyres can be recycled at a recycling centre, and both Longley Lane and Sandfold Lane list them as accepted. Its page doesn't give a maximum number or a charge. If a garage fits new tyres for you, the council says the garage is responsible for disposing of the old ones correctly, so you shouldn't need to take them anywhere. The council bulky collection excludes tyres.
Vans
A van, pick-up, hire van or car with a twin axle trailer needs a free van permit, applied for two working days before the first visit. Vans get 18 visits a year, and cars get 52. See Manchester tips.
If you cannot go
- A builders' waste collection or a skip suits plasterboard from a bigger job
- For a few old tyres, ask a local garage or a licensed firm whether they can take them
- Check the carrier's waste carrier registration before you pay
