Where Longley Lane tip is
Longley Lane, Sharston, Manchester, M22 4RQ. Longley Lane is one of the ten larger sites the council's van permit page lists for pick-up trucks, minibuses and campervans, and it is the only open Manchester site on that list. The site page itself, though, says pick-ups can't use it, so check that point before you go.
Longley Lane opening times
Monday to Sunday, 8am to 6pm. It is closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day, and the council pages mention no other closures. Staff stop vehicles at the gate to check loads, so separate your waste before you arrive.
Good to know about Longley Lane

- Asbestos isn't taken at the normal bays. This is one of four sites that take cement-bonded asbestos from your own home at the weighbridge, with protective gear
- Upholstered furniture such as sofas is collected separately, because of Environment Agency rules
- Donations in good condition (furniture with a fire label, electricals, toys with a CE or UKCA mark) go to the Renew shops
