Which vehicles are allowed

What it takes
- Mattresses and carpet
- Non-recyclable household waste, in separate bays
- Fridges, freezers, ovens and other electricals, TVs and computers
- Garden waste, wood and scrap metal
- Paper, cardboard, glass, cans and textiles
- Paint, engine oil, household and garden chemicals, gas bottles and batteries
- Used tyres
- Plasterboard and soil or rubble from home DIY, in small amounts
Limits on DIY waste
- Soil and rubble: up to 6 bags per load per day, each bag no more than 25kg. It must be from home DIY: not footings, foundations, internal walls or render
- Plasterboard: small numbers of sheets from home DIY only. You may be asked to sign a form, or turned away, if staff doubt where it came from
- Asbestos: by separate booking only, up to 6 sacks a month. See asbestos disposal in Coventry
On the day
- Hold your proof of address against the inside of your closed window: a recent utility bill, council tax bill or driving licence
- Staff won't unload for you, so only bring what you can lift
- Wear closed shoes. Flip-flops, sliders, open toes and high heels aren't allowed
- Bringing someone else's waste? The council says they must come with you
When the tip won't do
Kitchen strip-out, garden wall, a whole house to clear, or a van that's too big? A licensed company can take it with no booking and no limits: see rubble and soil, house clearance or rubbish removal.
