Asbestos disposal in Coventry: tip booking and rules
Small amounts of household asbestos can go to Coventry's tip, but only with a booking and strict wrapping. Here's how, checked against Coventry City Council and CSWDC pages on 27 October 2026.
- Coventry tip takes household asbestos by booking only
- Max 6 sacks (or the same amount) a month
- Double-bagged or wrapped in heavy plastic, kept damp
- Pieces no bigger than 2m x 1m, not broken up
- Rubbish collection firms won't take it
Taking it to the tip
The Bar Road tip accepts small amounts of household asbestos, but only if you book an asbestos slot. The limit is 6 sacks a month, or the same amount in sheets. Book through the council or on 08085 834333, and see the Coventry tip page for opening times.
How to wrap it
- Keep it damp, and don't break, cut or drill it
- Double-bag it, or wrap it in heavy-duty plastic sheeting
- Nothing sticking out of the wrapping
- Pieces no bigger than 2m x 1m (6.5ft x 3.2ft)
- Wear a disposable FFP3 mask, gloves and disposable overalls
Badly wrapped asbestos will be re-wrapped at the tip before it's taken.
When to call a specialist
- You don't know what the material is
- It's lagging, insulation board or anything crumbly
- It's more than 6 sacks, or still fixed to the building
- It's broken or damaged
