What is taken

Liverpool City Council's tips page says residents can dispose of cement bonded asbestos products at three Merseyside sites, by appointment only. It names no other type. Check the HSE website before you handle or remove anything you think contains asbestos. Both Old Swan and Otterspool say asbestos is not accepted.

The three sites

SiteAddress
HuytonWilson Road, Huyton, L36 6AD
SouthportFoul Lane, Southport, PR9 7RG
BidstonWallasey Bridge Road, Wirral, CH41 1EB

Book through Veolia's website or call 0203 567 4200. The page doesn't give opening hours for asbestos, a price or a limit, so ask when you book. All three are outside Liverpool, so allow for the drive.

If a contractor removed it

The council says that if you use a contractor to remove your asbestos, it becomes trade waste which the sites will not accept. The contractor is responsible for disposing of it. If you are a landlord, see landlord waste in Liverpool.

The bulky collection

The council bulky collection excludes liquids, hazardous waste and builders waste, so asbestos can't go on it.

If it has been dumped

Don't touch asbestos that has been fly-tipped. Report it to the council. See fly-tipping in Liverpool.
