The tips
Old Swan lists hardcore and rubble and plasterboard among the things it accepts. The page shows no limit on sacks or weight, so ask the staff if you have a big load. The Otterspool page names no accepted items, so check before you take building waste there. A van needs a van booking, and gets 12 visits a year.
Trade waste
Liverpool's sites say trade and commercial waste will not be accepted, and that trade waste is the responsibility of the business that produced it. Waste from a builder you hired is theirs to take away. The council's bulky collection won't take builders' waste either.
Your options
| Option | Best for | Rough cost |
|---|---|---|
| Builders' waste collection | Bags or piles of rubble, loaded for you | Often £150 to £250 for a medium load, £250 to £400 for a large one |
| Skip | Longer jobs you fill as you go | Depends on size; a permit is needed if it goes on the road |
| Grab lorry | Tonnes of soil or rubble | Around £150 for a small load up to £450 to £500 for 16 tonnes |
Asbestos
Old garage roofs and shed sheets might contain asbestos. Neither Liverpool tip takes it. See asbestos disposal in Liverpool.
