Council collection
On the council's price list a sofa, armchair, sofa bed, recliner and padded office chair are each £10, as long as they are dry. A corner sofa unit in sections or a 3-piece suite (one sofa and two armchairs) is £40. The council page also shows a 25% discount on listed prices, which it describes as current, so check the booking form.
The tips
Brunswick, Byker and Walbottle all list sofas among the things they accept. The council says only Newcastle residents can use the tips, and you must arrive in a vehicle or on a cargo bike. A van needs a van permit and can only use Brunswick. See the Newcastle tips guide.
Private collection
A licensed company takes the sofa from inside your home and handles the paperwork. Prices are UK guide figures and depend on size, stairs and the number of pieces. A corner sofa costs more than a two-seater.
