Free collections
Sheffield City Council tenants get one free collection of up to 12 items in any rolling 12 months. Some housing association tenants also get free collections, including Acis, Pennine, Together Housing, Great Places and Sanctuary tenants in homes transferred from the council. The limits vary by landlord (Veolia says Acis is up to 9 items), so check with your landlord first.
Fixtures and big jobs
Non-domestic items like fixtures and fittings, including baths, go on a separate service with a minimum charge of £129.70, and a manager may visit to price it. Cast iron baths aren't taken unless broken up. More than 12 items goes on the same service, so call 0114 273 4567.
Council or private?
For three items at £40.25 the council is reasonable. For a kitchen or bathroom strip-out, the £129.70 minimum makes a builders' waste collection worth comparing, and for a whole house see house clearance in Sheffield. For one item, see sofa, mattress or fridge disposal, or compare a single item quote.
