Get the timing right
A Trafford bulky collection costs £44.10 for up to five items. Completion dates often move, and Trafford only refunds if you cancel by 11.59pm two working days before the collection. Book for a day you are sure you will still have the keys, and remember items can only be put out that morning, by 6.30am.
Give away what you can
Good furniture with its fire label can be donated at Greater Manchester tips, and Woodhouse Lane has a Renew shop. Trafford also suggests Moya Cole Hospice Ardwick Furniture Shop, Wesley Community Furniture, the British Heart Foundation, the Salvation Army and the Tree of Life Centre. Mattresses are not taken as donations.
If you are buying a new fridge, cooker or washing machine for the new place, the shop must take the old one back free.
