What it costs
| Items on the order | Council price |
|---|---|
| 1 to 5 items | £44.10 |
| 6 to 10 items | £88.20 |
Trafford's booking page says the price is £44.10 per five items, and gives the example that seven items cost £88.20 (checked against Trafford Council and Recycle for Greater Manchester pages on 2 November 2026). Unlike some boroughs, there is no free allowance. The council calls the £44.10 a non-refundable minimum charge, but its terms say you get a full refund if you cancel in time (see below).
Booking
You book online through the council's customer portal, with an email address and a debit or credit card. Every item has to be listed on the order: anything not listed will be left. The council mentions mattresses, fridges and furniture as examples. The full list of what it will and will not take is shown in the terms when you book. The service is for homes only. Businesses need a commercial waste quote.

- Put items out on the morning of collection only, by 6.30am
- Leave them outside the building but within your property boundary
- Crews can come any time from 6.30am to 5pm, and you do not need to be in
- Each item must be manageable by two people and no longer than 3 metres. Very heavy items are left
- Cover sofas and mattresses so rain does not soak in, and make nails, screws and broken glass safe
Assisted collections can only collect from the ground floor, and you sign a disclaimer first.
Cancelling
Cancel by 11.59pm two working days before the collection for a full refund, which takes up to 10 working days. After that there is no refund, and if the crew cannot collect because of something on your side, it is not rebooked or refunded.
Other options
Trafford suggests donating good items to Moya Cole Hospice Ardwick Furniture Shop, Wesley Community Furniture, the British Heart Foundation, the Salvation Army or the Tree of Life Centre. If you are buying a new electrical item, the shop must take the old one back free. For heavy items, things upstairs or a whole room, see house clearance in Trafford or single item removal.
