Here's every household waste recycling centre in Merseyside and Halton, checked against Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority and Veolia pages on 29 October 2026.

- Summer 8am to 8pm. Winter 8am to 5pm, or 6pm in Halton

Hours
Every site is open 8am to 8pm from 1 April to 30 September. From 1 October to 31 March the closing time is 5pm, except in Halton, where it is 6pm. Rainhill is the odd one out: weekdays follow the usual hours, Saturday is 9am to 6pm (April to September) or 9am to 5pm (October to March), and Sunday is 9am to 3pm. All sites close on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

Halton's two sites are run by Halton Council. The authority's list says vans and large trailers there book through Halton Council on 0303 333 4300.
Paint, asbestos and bikes
- Paint: Veolia lists Bidston, Huyton, Old Swan, Ravenhead, Sefton Meadows and Southport as taking it. Formby, South Sefton and Otterspool say it is not accepted. The authority's own list words some of these differently, so check before a trip
- Cement-bonded asbestos: Huyton, Southport and Bidston only, from your own home, by appointment. See asbestos disposal in Liverpool
- Reusable bikes: not accepted at Southport. Old Swan has a bike reuse point
- Trade waste: not accepted at the Liverpool sites. Ask the authority about the others
Booking and using other sites
A van of any size, a trailer of 2m to 3m, and some estates and pick-ups need a free appointment, with 12 visits a year. The booking page covers residents of Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens, Knowsley and Wirral. The authority's page also says all recycling centres in Merseyside are available to all Merseyside householders, so a Liverpool resident can use Huyton, Kirkby or Bootle. It doesn't say the same for the two Halton sites, which Halton Council runs, so ring 0303 333 4300 before using those. The Liverpool rules are on the van booking page.
