Bristol bulky waste collection: prices and rules
Here's what Bristol City Council charges to collect large items and what it expects, checked against Bristol City Council and Bristol Waste Company pages on 29 October 2026.
- £27 for up to 3 items such as a fridge, bed frame or mattress, £52 for 4 to 6

These are the prices on the council's current bulky collection page, and on a Bristol Waste Company page marked as changed on 23 October 2026. Some other versions of the council's pages still show lower prices (for example £25 for up to 3 items), so check the booking form for the price you will pay.
How it works
- Fill in the online bulky waste form and pay by credit or debit card. The booking is not complete until you pay
- If you cannot pay online, phone 0117 922 2100
- Put your items out on the kerb outside your property by 7am, visible and reachable from the road
- Tape all glass, including shelves and mirrors, corner to corner
- The crew usually collects between 7am and 5pm, but may be slightly later
What is not collected
The council's list of what it does not collect includes: anything two people cannot carry, anything over 2 metres (6.5 feet) long, items not on the kerb, items it can only reach using steps, very dirty items, soft furnishings and mattresses soaked with water, paint and other liquids, chemicals, car parts and tyres, building and DIY waste, garden waste and soil, school and charity waste, and business waste, including furniture and mattresses owned by the landlord of a rented property. Changes and refunds
To change a booking, phone by 2.30pm on the working day before. To get a refund you must cancel 5 working days before the collection. If a collection is missed, the council says it will collect within 5 working days, and you must report the miss within 5 working days to get a refund. The online form is unavailable from 8pm to 11.59pm.
Council or private?
