The bulky collection
The council's bulky page lists business waste, including furniture and mattresses owned by the landlord of a rented property, as something it will not collect. A landlord cannot book the council bulky collection for the old sofa from a tenancy.
The tips
Bristol's tips are for Bristol residents and household waste, and the council says business and trade waste is illegal to bring. Its pages do not say how a clearance of a flat you own but do not live in is treated, so ask the council before you book a slot. A van also needs a van permit, which covers 12 visits a year.
A private firm
A licensed company clears the whole flat in one visit and gives you a waste transfer note, which is the paperwork a landlord needs. See house clearance in Bristol and rubbish removal.
Tenants and your landlord
If the furniture is yours, you can book the council collection or use the tips. If the landlord owns it, it is not yours to throw away. Check your tenancy agreement or inventory before you get rid of anything.
