Wolverhampton has two household waste recycling centres. Here's how they work, checked against City of Wolverhampton Council pages on 27 October 2026.
- Two tips: Anchor Lane (WV14) and Shaw Road (WV10)
- Both open 8am to 4pm, 7 days a week
- Cars don't need to book. Vans and trailers must
- Bring photo ID with a Wolverhampton address
- No asbestos, and strict limits on DIY waste

The two tips
| Tip | Address | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Anchor Lane | Lanesfield, Bilston, WV14 9NE | Donation point takes bikes only |
| Shaw Road | Wolverhampton, WV10 9LE | Main donation point for reusable furniture |
Both are open 8am to 4pm, seven days a week.
Going by car
No booking needed, but queues are common, so allow time. Bring one photo ID showing your name and address, or photo ID plus a matching proof of address. The waste must come from a Wolverhampton home, and someone who lives there must come with it. Staff can help with items that are easy to carry, but won't unload everything for you.
People on foot are allowed at set times (weekdays 8am to 10am and 2pm to 4pm, weekends 8am to 10am), escorted by staff.
Vans and trailers
Vans, pick-ups and any car towing a trailer must book, and need two forms of ID. Both sites have 1.8m height barriers, so anything taller can only come in a booked slot between 10.30am and 3.30pm, with 24 hours' notice. See booking the tip with a van for hired, borrowed and company vehicles.
What they take
- Furniture, mattresses, fridges and freezers
- Electricals, batteries, fluorescent tubes and energy-saving bulbs
- Garden waste, timber, chipboard and scrap metal
- Rubble, soil and plasterboard, within the DIY limits below
- Tyres, engine oil, cooking oil, gas bottles, chemicals and paint
- Glass, textiles and bulky plastics
DIY waste rules
- It must be your own DIY, from the home you live in
- Not from any work you paid someone to do, like a builder or handyman
- Less than 100 litres, enough to fit in two 50-litre bags, or one single item within the council's size limit
- No more than four times in any four weeks
That rules out most real building jobs. See rubble and DIY waste in Wolverhampton.
What they won't take
- Asbestos: not accepted at either site. Use a licensed asbestos specialist
- Trade or business waste
- Waste from rental properties, which the council treats as commercial
- Clinical waste
