Booking a Wolverhampton tip visit with a van or trailer
Cars can just turn up, but vans and trailers need a booking and two forms of ID. Here are the rules, checked against City of Wolverhampton Council pages on 27 October 2026.
- Vans, pick-ups and cars towing a trailer must book
- Bring two IDs: one with a photo, one a recent household bill
- Both tips have 1.8m height barriers
- Taller vehicles: 10.30am to 3.30pm only, with 24 hours' notice
- Borrowed van? The owner must book it

How to book
- Log in to the council's My Account and book a tip visit
- Confirm the waste is your own household waste from a Wolverhampton home, isn't trade waste, and isn't being taken away for payment
- Pick a slot. There are 10 half-hour slots on weekdays and a limited number at weekends
- Bring your photo ID and a recent household bill
Height barriers
Both sites have barriers set at 1.8m. Most high-roof vans are taller than that, so they can only come in a booked slot between 10.30am and 3.30pm, and you need to give 24 hours' notice.
Hired, borrowed and company vehicles
| Vehicle | What you need |
|---|---|
| Hired van | Say it's a hire vehicle when booking, give the hire company details, and bring the hire agreement |
| Borrowed van | The owner of the vehicle must make the booking |
| Company van for personal use | Company details when booking, plus a letter on headed paper saying you can use it for domestic waste |
What you can bring
Household waste from your own Wolverhampton home only. DIY waste follows the strict rules:
- It must be your own DIY, from the home you live in
- Not from any work you paid someone to do, like a builder or handyman
- Less than 100 litres, enough to fit in two 50-litre bags, or one single item within the council's size limit
- No more than four times in any four weeks
Hired a van and it's turning into a hassle? A licensed rubbish removal company brings its own van, needs no booking, and takes builders' waste too.
