Wolverhampton bulky waste collection: prices and rules

Wolverhampton charges for every bulky collection, with electricals priced separately. Here's what it costs and how it works, checked against City of Wolverhampton Council pages on 27 October 2026.

Prices

The council no longer offers concessions. General items are collected Monday to Thursday depending on where you live, and electricals on Fridays.

The rules

• Book online through My Account
• Items must be outside, as close to the kerb as possible, by 6.30am
• The crew won't go into your home, garden, garage or shed, or carry items up or down steps
• A corner sofa that splits in two counts as two items
• Items over 2m long, or too heavy for two people, may be left
• You can change or cancel up to 12pm two working days before, but bookings are non-refundable. The council only refunds in exceptional cases, minus a £20 admin fee

What they won't take

• Building materials, soil, rubble and wood
• Waste from landlords clearing rented homes
• Wet or soiled items
• Paint and hazardous waste
• House clearances, dismantling furniture or disconnecting cookers

Council or private?

With electricals at £26.50 each and a minimum of £33 for general items, a private collection can cost about the same, and will usually carry things out from inside. For one sofa or fridge, compare a single item quote. For a whole house or a rental, see house clearance.
