The purple bin
Wolverhampton's garden waste service costs £55 for 2026, which the council works out at £2.61 a collection, with bins emptied every two weeks from February to December. For the 2026 season, bookings opened online in early December 2025 and direct debit customers got renewal letters, so check the council for 2027 prices and dates. Neighbours can share one bin, with one household paying.
The tips
You can take garden waste free to Anchor Lane or Shaw Road, 8am to 4pm every day. Cars don't need to book, but trailers do. If you're bringing soil or rubble, check whether it counts as DIY waste, which is capped at 100 litres.
Bigger jobs
Hedge removal, an overgrown garden or an old shed is more than a bin or a car boot can handle, and the bulky collection won't take soil or wood. A licensed garden waste collection loads it in one visit, and for lots of soil a grab lorry is often cheapest.
