Council collection
A mattress, bed frame, fridge or electrical item is £27 for up to 3 on the council bulky collection page, and a sofa or armchair is £26.50 on its own booking. Book and put the items out by 7am.
The tips
Bristol's tips are for Bristol residents. You need a booked slot, photo ID and proof of residence. The council page does not list which proofs it accepts for a normal visit, and a student exempt from council tax may not have a council tax bill, so ask before you plan a trip. See the Bristol tips guide.
Whose furniture is it?
The council refuses furniture and mattresses owned by a landlord. Check your tenancy agreement or inventory first. See landlord and rental waste in Bristol.
Private collection
A licensed single item or rubbish removal company can do the whole house in one visit on a day that suits. Do not leave items outside: the Bristol Waste Company warns that leaving them without a booking is fly-tipping. A household can be fined £400 where someone dumps its waste, as set out in fly-tipping in Bristol.
