Council collection
The council names sofas and armchairs on its list of collectable items. Pricing is by the number of items, so a sofa alone is in the £15 band. The page we checked does not say how a corner sofa or a three-piece suite is counted, so ask when you book. Put the sofa where you said in the booking. See council bulky collection.
The tips
The council says items must fit into the boot of your car, which rules out most sofas. A van gets one booked visit a month and a van must be under 5m long and 2.2m high. See van and trailer rules and tip booking.
Private collection
A licensed company takes the sofa from inside your home and handles the paperwork. Prices are UK guide figures and depend on size, stairs and the number of pieces.
