Cardiff bulky waste collection: prices and rules
Cardiff Council collects large household items from your home for a fee. Here are the prices and rules, checked against Cardiff Council pages on 30 October 2026.
- £15 for 1 to 2 items, £30 for 3 to 4, £45 for 5 to 6
- Plus a £5 booking fee that is not refundable
- Maximum six items, and you cannot add items after paying
- Homes only. Items must be too large for a car or unsafe for one person to carry

The council page also lists a £5 booking fee for every collection, which is not refundable. Check the total at the checkout to see whether the fee is added on top. The page shows no free collections.
What it takes
The collection is for items too large for you to bring to a recycling centre, or too large and awkward to fit in your car, or unsafe for one person to carry. The council lists memory foam and spring mattresses, and sofas and armchairs, as collectable. Place the item at the location you named in the booking. It also asks people to book only when really necessary.

Fridges and freezers are not on the list we saw, so ask when you book. The service is for homes only, and businesses go to Cardiff Trade Waste.
Changing a booking
You can swap items until 2pm on the working day before your collection. To get a refund you must cancel at least 5 working days before the collection date. Once you have paid, you cannot add extra items. The council gives 029 2087 2087 for cancellations and changes.
