Cardiff tip booking: how it works
Cardiff tips ask you to book each visit. Here's how it works, checked against Cardiff Council pages on 30 October 2026.
- You must book a time slot for every Cardiff tip visit
- Up to 26 visits a year. Cars: no more than 3 visits in a day
- A van or a car with a trailer: 1 visit a month
- Bring proof of booking and proof of address

The rules
- Book a time slot each time you visit either site
- You can book up to 26 visits per year
- In a car you can use that allowance flexibly, but not more than three times a day
- In a van, or a car with a trailer, you can only book one visit a month
- Tell the council which vehicle you are bringing when you book
What to bring
The council asks you to bring proof of booking and proof of address. The pages we checked do not say which documents count as proof of address, so ask when you book. Sort your waste before you go. The council does not accept unsorted black bags, unsorted recycling or mixed builders waste, and items must fit in the boot of your car. See the Cardiff tips guide for the full list.
On foot or by bike
The council says you cannot access the recycling centres on foot or by bike.
Changing a booking
For changes or cancellations, the council gives 029 2087 2087. The online booking page is on the council website. Cancel as soon as you know you cannot go, because you have a limited number of visits a year.
