What it takes
The council lists furniture, white goods and electrical appliances, TVs and computer equipment, garden furniture and equipment, children's and baby items, mobility aids, and household fixtures such as sinks, toilets and radiators. It names beds, mattresses and fridges as examples. The full accepted list appears when you apply, and anything not booked or accepted is left behind.

Get free quotesOn the day
- Collections happen only on your usual bin collection day, any time up to 5pm
- Put items out by 7am, and not before the day before
- The crew cannot collect from inside your house or garage
Changing a booking
To cancel, email environmental.management@rochdale.gov.uk by 10am the day before, then rebook. A cancellation made in time does not use up a free collection, and paid bookings cancelled in time are refunded.
When the free ones run out
Six items cost £12.60 plus three times £8.40, which is £37.80. That is still good value if you can carry everything out. If items are upstairs, too heavy, or not on the list, see house clearance in Rochdale or single item removal.
