Council collection
Trafford does not publish its full list of collectable items on the bulky page. The list is in the terms you see when you book. Its terms say each item must be manageable and safely carried by two people, and that excessively heavy items will be left. An upright piano is very unlikely to qualify. It would also need to be outside the building by 6.30am.

A piano that still plays may be wanted by a school, church hall, community centre or a buyer on a local selling site. Ask the new owner to arrange collection. The Recycle for Greater Manchester recycling guide does not mention pianos, so check with Chester Road in Stretford or Woodhouse Lane in Altrincham before taking one.
Paying for removal
Tell the company whether it is an upright or a grand, how many steps there are and where a van can park. Ask if the price covers disposal or rehoming, and check their waste carrier registration.
