Plan it around bin day
Rochdale only collects bulky items on your usual bin day. Items must be out by 7am, and the crew cannot come inside to fetch them. Slots are released weekly for the next three weeks and go fast, so book as soon as you know your moving date. If your bin day falls after you hand back the keys, that collection will not help.

Donate what still works
Recycle for Greater Manchester has donate containers at 18 of its recycling centres. Upholstered furniture needs its fire label, and mattresses are not taken as donations. Rochdale also says good-quality bulky items may be set aside for people looking for affordable furniture.
Rochdale says you can return an old electrical item to the shop free when you buy a new one of the same kind, so ask when you order a new fridge or cooker.
