The council building collection
Stockport Council charges £150 an hour for its garden and building waste collection, paid in full when you book. It takes bathroom fixtures, doors and door frames, worktops, window frames, radiators, storage heaters (brick removed) and tiles in builder's bags. Items must be under 2 metres long and under 50kg. It will not take bricks, rubble, soil, plasterboard, insulation, glass sheets or stone fireplaces, and you cannot add items once booked.
The tips
Rubble is limited to five 900mm by 600mm sacks a visit, from DIY you did yourself. Bredbury Parkway and Adswood Road take plasterboard from your own home. Rose Hill does not. Vans need a free van permit.

Waste from a tradesperson you hired is business waste and cannot go to any site. Ask the fitter to remove it as part of the price, and check they are a registered waste carrier.
Council or private?
| Load | Rough private price |
|---|---|

The council's £150 an hour is a minimum charge, and it still leaves the rubble and plasterboard. One licensed company can usually take everything, rubble included.
