What to know
- One of only four Greater Manchester weighbridges for asbestos: cement-bonded, from your own home, with full protective gear
- Asbestos times: Monday to Friday 7am to 6pm, weekends 7am to 5pm, bank holidays 7am to 6pm
- Takes plasterboard removed from your own home. Trade plasterboard is refused
- The site rules say no pick-up trucks, though the permit list includes it among the larger sites, so ring first
- Rubble: up to five 900mm by 600mm sacks a visit, from DIY you did yourself
Stockport Council has described Bredbury as the tip for vehicles over 2 metres. Recycle for Greater Manchester now says it has removed height barriers at most sites, but Bredbury remains the safe choice for a tall van. Fridges in good condition can be donated to the Renew scheme here.
