Hire vans at Hull tips
Hiring a van for a tip run in Hull? Here's the permit routine, checked against Hull City Council pages on 30 October 2026.
- A hire van needs a permit like any other van
- Bring the hire agreement showing a Hull address
- Plus a resident's pass or other proof of address
- Permits are free, with 12 visits per household a year

Steps
- Hire the van with a Hull address on the agreement
- Apply for the permit online. If no exceptions apply, a virtual permit arrives straight away
- Book a slot at one of the three centres. You can cancel or change it up to 30 minutes before
- Take the hire agreement and your proof of address
Proof needed
The council asks for a hire agreement showing a Hull address, plus a resident's pass or other proof of address, such as a driving licence or utility bill. See tip permit.
Instead of a hire van
The council bulky collection gives one free collection of up to five items a year, and licensed rubbish removal can take a whole van load.
