The brown bin
Tameside's brown bin is for food and garden waste. Its page lists plants, leaves, small twigs, grass cuttings and cooked or uncooked food, and it does not mention any charge for garden waste (checked against Tameside Council and Recycle for Greater Manchester pages on 2 November 2026). Big branches, soil and a whole hedge will not fit.
November pause
Tameside says there will be no brown bin collections on Monday 2, Tuesday 3, Wednesday 4, Thursday 12 and Friday 13 November 2026, for driver training. Bins go back to normal the following week, so an autumn tidy-up may have to wait.

Garden waste is accepted at Ash Road in Droylsden or Bayley Street in Stalybridge, kept apart from food waste. Soil counts towards the five-sack rubble limit. The Tameside bulky collection will not take garden waste, trees, sheds, greenhouses or fence panels.
