Recycle for Greater Manchester lists 8am to 6pm, Monday to Sunday, closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Tameside's own bulky page gives longer summer hours of 8am to 8pm from April to October, so check before a late visit in summer (checked against Tameside Council and Recycle for Greater Manchester pages on 2 November 2026).
Good to know
- Household plasterboard from your own home is accepted. Trade plasterboard is not
- Pick-up trucks are listed for this site and need a free permit, like vans. Some Greater Manchester pages disagree on pick-ups, so ring first
- Rubble and soil: five 900mm by 600mm sacks a visit, from your own DIY
- Sort your load before you arrive to save time at the bays
Asbestos is not taken here. The nearest weighbridges for cement-bonded asbestos are Bredbury Parkway in Stockport and Arkwright Street in Oldham.
Tameside's other tip is Ash Road in Droylsden. See the Tameside tips guide, and the free van permit guide if you are coming in a van.
