The brown bin
Recycle for Greater Manchester lists Bury's brown bin for food waste and garden waste, including twigs no thicker than your wrist. Soil does not go in it, and only compostable liners with the seedling logo should be used. It does not mention any charge for the Bury brown bin (checked against Bury Council and Recycle for Greater Manchester pages on 2 November 2026).
The tips
Garden waste can go to Every Street in Bury or Cemetery Road in Radcliffe, kept separate from food waste, which no Greater Manchester centre takes. Soil counts towards the five-sack rubble limit. Vans need a free van permit.

Get free quotesThe bulky service
Bury's bulky collection refuses sheds, fence panels and posts and large dog kennels, and it does not collect from back gardens.
