The council
Bury says items must be left whole at your usual bin point, front garden or driveway, and it will not collect from a back garden, yard, shed, garage or from inside a property, including flats. Its refused list also includes gas bottles, large gym equipment, double-extension ladders and bagged household waste, which is much of what fills a garage (checked against Bury Council and Recycle for Greater Manchester pages on 2 November 2026).
