The tips

The council's table shows fridges accepted at Walbottle only. Brunswick and Byker don't take them, though all three list white goods more generally. Walbottle is on Walbottle Road and opens at 9am, an hour after the others. You need to be a Newcastle resident with a vehicle, and a van would have to use Brunswick, which doesn't take fridges. See the Newcastle tips guide.

Council collection

The council bulky collection charges £10 for a fridge or freezer. Don't leave it full of food, and the council doesn't accept commercial or shop white goods. The council page also shows a 25% discount on listed prices, which it describes as current, so check the booking form.

Other electrical items

A washing machine, dishwasher, domestic cooker and tumble dryer are each £10 on the same list, and a TV is £10. A microwave, vacuum cleaner or desktop PC is part of the £20 band for up to 8 small items. All three tips take electrical and electronic devices with the batteries removed, TVs and monitors, and fluorescent tubes.

Private collection

A licensed collector will usually remove a fridge for about £20 to £50 as a UK guide price.
