Asbestos disposal in Sheffield: which tips take it?

Shirecliffe is the only site open 7 days, but it's the one site that won't take asbestos. Don't take it there.

How to wrap it

It must be double-wrapped, and the outer layer must be clear so staff can see both layers. Heavy-duty polythene sheeting and strong tape work. Wrap whole sheets. Don't cut them to fit.

What the tips won't take

Only domestic cement-bonded asbestos is accepted, the kind found in garage and shed roof sheets, guttering and downpipes. Anything that isn't cement-bonded, like pipe lagging or insulation board, or any asbestos from a business, needs a licensed contractor. Staying safe

• Don't break, drill, sand or jet-wash it
• Dampen it lightly before handling to keep dust down
• Wear a disposable mask rated FFP3 and disposable overalls

The rest of the job
