Asbestos in Hull?
Do not break it up. A licensed company can advise.
Free, no obligation. We share your details only with waste companies that can help. See our privacy policy.
Where
The council says asbestos can only be deposited at the Wiltshire Road household waste and recycling centre. The other two sites do not take it. Open 10am to 5pm daily, and a van or large trailer needs a free tip permit.
Packing it
The material must be double-bagged, wrapped and sealed in heavy-duty plastic, such as soil, rubble or garden waste bags, or heavy-duty plastic sheeting. Staff check the bags. You deposit the material into the asbestos container yourself and follow site staff instructions at all times.
What gets refused
- Bags that are split, poorly sealed or too weak to be lifted
- Carrier bags and hessian bags
- Pedal bin liners or similar lightweight black plastic bags
- Material wrapped in cling film or bubble wrap
Using a company
If you are unsure what you have, or there is a lot, use a licensed company rather than breaking it up yourself. See builders' waste.
