Dates
Stockport's three tips, Bredbury Parkway, Adswood Road and Rose Hill, shut on 25 December and 1 January and keep their usual 8am to 6pm on the other days, according to Recycle for Greater Manchester (checked against Stockport Council and Recycle for Greater Manchester pages on 2 November 2026). Nothing is said about Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve, so ring before a late trip. For asbestos, the Bredbury Parkway weighbridge is also closed on 26 December.
Planning a clear-out
Boxing Day and the days after New Year tend to be busy, so go early with everything sorted. If you need a van, apply for the free permit at least 2 working days before. If you are booking the council's bulky collection for unwanted gifts or old furniture, write the full list first: Stockport will not let you add items to a booking.
