Dates
Recycle for Greater Manchester lists Chichester Street and Spring Vale as closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day, and open 8am to 6pm on other days (checked against Rochdale Borough Council and Recycle for Greater Manchester pages on 2 November 2026). Nothing is said about Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve, so check before a late trip.
Planning
Sort your load before you go: staff check vehicles at the gate. Vans need a free permit, applied for 2 working days ahead. Council bulky collections happen on your usual bin day, so if your bin day moves over Christmas, check how that affects a booking.
