Dates
Recycle for Greater Manchester lists Arkwright Street as closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day, and open 8am to 6pm on other days (checked against Oldham Council and Recycle for Greater Manchester pages on 2 November 2026). It says nothing about Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve, so check before a late trip. The asbestos weighbridge closes on 25 and 26 December and 1 January.
Planning
Sort your load before you go, as staff check vehicles at the gate. A van needs a free permit applied for 2 working days ahead. For broken furniture after Christmas, the council bulky service is £10 an item, left outside.
