The green bin permit
Stockport charges for garden waste collections: £59 per green bin for 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027, or £39 for one bin if you get Council Tax Support. A second bin is £59, and buying later in the year does not reduce the price.
The council garden collection
Stockport Council charges £150 an hour for its garden and building waste collection. It takes bagged garden waste, fence panels and gates, cut-up trees and dismantled outdoor play equipment, up to 2 metres long and 50kg per item. It will not take sheds, greenhouses, turf, soil, paving or stone garden furniture.
