The brown bin
Rochdale Council says the brown bin is for food, teabags and garden waste, including leaves, twigs and grass cuttings. For collection days and anything else, the council's number is 0300 303 8884.
The tips
Recycle for Greater Manchester says you can take garden waste to your recycling centre, but food waste cannot be recycled at any of its centres, so keep the two apart. Soil counts towards the five-sack rubble limit. Vans need a free van permit. See Rochdale tips.
