If someone else takes your household waste and it ends up dumped, you can be fined too. The council says you should always use a registered waste carrier when someone else collects your waste.
Checking a carrier
- Ask for their waste carrier registration number
- Look it up on the Environment Agency public register
- Ask where the waste is going, and get a receipt with their details
- Be wary of very cheap, cash-only offers
