Bolton bulky waste collection: price and rules

Bolton Council collects large household items for a charge. Here are the prices and rules, checked against Bolton Council and Recycle for Greater Manchester pages on 31 October 2026.

Price

Pay by credit or debit card. To book, the council gives 01204 336632. A two-piece corner settee counts as two items. Small electricals are limited to four in total, and loose toys or cushions to five, not bagged.

What it takes

The council list includes beds, mattresses, divan bases, sofas, armchairs, wardrobes (free-standing), tables, chairs, chests of drawers, fridges, freezers and fridge freezers (not American style), cookers, washing machines, tumble dryers, TVs, bikes, exercise bikes and treadmills. Carpet, lino and underlay are up to three rolls each.

What it does not take

• Fixtures and fittings: fitted units, integrated doors, windows, bathroom and kitchen suites
• Builder waste, bags of household waste and garden waste
• American style fridge freezers, pianos, sun beds, trampolines and electric wheelchairs
• Sheds, garden gates, pallets, gas fires, petrol lawnmowers and gas cylinders
• Printers, PC monitors, laptops and clothing

On the day

Your bulky day follows your bin day: Monday to Wednesday bin days get a Tuesday collection, Thursday or Friday bin days a Thursday. Crews come between 7am and 5pm. Items can be inside on the ground floor or outside within your boundary, covered, and never on public land. Items not on the booking are left, with no refund, and so is a fridge with spoiled food in it.

Who cannot use it
