Where to take it
Recycle for Greater Manchester takes cement-bonded asbestos only, from your own home, at four weighbridges. Bredbury Parkway is one. Its asbestos hours are Monday to Friday 7am to 6pm, weekends 7am to 5pm and bank holidays 7am to 6pm. All four close on 25 and 26 December and 1 January. Adswood Road and Rose Hill do not take it.
What to wear and bring
Staff will turn you away without protective gear: hard hat, safety glasses, hi-vis, gloves and steel toe-capped boots. Bring a recent bill for the address the asbestos came from, such as council tax, water, gas, electric or landline. A mobile phone bill will not do.

Wrap each piece twice in thick plastic sheeting and tape it shut. Rubble sacks are fine, but only with the asbestos sealed inside two layers. Keep sheets whole, as cutting or snapping them releases fibres.
If a contractor removed it
Recycle for Greater Manchester will not take asbestos removed by a tradesperson, so the contractor has to dispose of it. Not sure whether a roof or panel is asbestos? Leave it alone and get it checked first.
