Where to take it
Recycle for Greater Manchester takes cement-bonded asbestos only, from your own home, at four weighbridges: Arkwright Street in Oldham, Cobden Street in Salford, Longley Lane in Sharston and Bredbury Parkway. Chichester Street and Spring Vale do not take it. All four weighbridges close on 25 and 26 December and 1 January. See asbestos disposal in Oldham for Arkwright Street's hours.

A hard hat, safety glasses, hi-vis, gloves and steel-capped boots, plus a recent council tax, water, gas, electric or landline bill for the address (not a mobile phone bill). Double wrap the asbestos in heavy duty plastic and seal it.
If a contractor removed it
Asbestos from tradespeople is not accepted at any Greater Manchester facility. If you are not sure what a sheet or panel is, leave it alone and get advice.
