Council uplift
Each item costs £5. A large sofa or an L-shaped sofa that has to be unclipped to move counts as separate items, so a corner sofa in three parts is three items. You list the sofa on the booking form and put it on the pavement in front of your property by 7am. Items must be liftable by two people. See council bulky uplift.
The tips
The council's accepted list names mattresses, large appliances, wood, metal and non-recyclable waste, but does not name sofas or furniture. Ask before you load one into a car. You need an appointment and staff will not help you unload. See tip booking.
Private collection
A licensed company takes the sofa from inside your home. Prices are UK guide figures and depend on size, stairs and the number of pieces.
