At the tips
The council lists bricks, rubble and loose soil as accepted at its recycling centres, along with solid and MDF wood, metal and carpet. It gives no weight limit and no charge on the pages we checked, so ring or check the booking page if you have a lot. Paint pots are only accepted if the paint is dried solid. Asbestos is never accepted: see asbestos disposal in Edinburgh. Each visit needs a booked slot, and a van or trailer is limited to three slots a day. See Edinburgh tips and van and trailer rules.
Builders and trade
Commercial, trade or business waste is not allowed at the household sites. If a builder is doing your job, the waste usually has to leave with them. Ask them where it is going. See fly-tipping and your duty of care.
Collection options
For larger jobs use a licensed company: builders' waste, grab hire or rubbish removal. The bulky uplift cannot take rubble or building materials.
