What the tips take

All five Bradford tips list hardcore as accepted, and the council's policy page puts soil, rubble, hardcore and tiles under its DIY limits: free disposal is limited to 1 visit a week per household, with either two 50-litre rubble bags or buckets, or one large item no bigger than 2m by 0.75m. Anything more needs a different route. Plasterboard and tyres are only taken at Bowling Back Lane and Keighley, and both are chargeable. Leftover material from tradespeople doing work at your home (builders, joiners, plumbers, electricians and gardeners) isn't accepted at all.

The price list

Bowling Back Lane and Keighley have a weighbridge and a 2026-27 price list. The items most relevant to a building job are below. The council calls these minimum charges and says extra charges may apply for specialised waste or extra handling, so confirm on site.

ItemMinimum charge 2026-27
Brick, rubble and soil£10.50
Plasterboard£10.50
Clean wood£13
Car tyres£8 each
Commercial tyres£10 each
Trade waste£18

The trade waste line is a reminder that businesses can't use the household tips. The council's bulky collection page says commercial waste, including waste from tradespeople or rental property work, has to go to its two main transfer stations, which its policy names as Bowling Back Lane and Keighley, with payment.
