What the council says
The bulky collection page says the service is "strictly for domestic use only" and that items suspected to be from a business or trade may not be collected and may not be refunded. Its tips page says that disposing of commercial or trade waste at the tips is an offence, and that visitors with business rubbish will be asked to leave. Neither page says how a landlord's clear-out of a tenant's leftovers is treated, so ask the council on 0191 278 7878 before you book or load a van.
Tenant waste or landlord waste?
A tenant clearing their own home is a household matter for them. Waste from work a landlord is doing, such as a stripped kitchen or old carpets, sits closer to the council's trade wording. If you aren't sure which side a load falls on, ask the council first. The tips are also for Newcastle residents only, and the permit vehicles need proof of a Newcastle address.
