Costs
| Item | Price on the council page | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Garden waste bin | £35 each | Maximum 2 green bins |
| Reusable sack | £3.50 each | Maximum 5 sacks out for collection |
The council page does not say whether these prices are one-off or yearly, so check when you order. Hubs that sell sacks take cash only.
How to order
The council says you may need to register, and gives Connect to Cardiff on 029 2087 2087. The same number is for a new bin if you have moved house, and for sacks. You can also pick up sacks from the council hubs on its list. Deliveries of bins or sacks take up to 15 working days.
What goes in
Accepted: grass cuttings, leaves, weeds, small branches and twigs, small plants and flowers. Not accepted: sawdust, woodchip and bark, hay, shredded paper, pet waste, nappies, soil or rubble, wood or decking, cardboard, flower pots, garden tools, food waste and electrical equipment.
When it is collected
The garden waste page points to a separate page for collection days. A council announcement from March 2025 said collections would run every fortnight for 50 weeks of the year, with a two-week pause at Christmas. Check your own dates on the council website, because the service may have changed since.
For soil, decking, fencing or a whole garden clear-out, use garden waste removal or rubbish removal.
