Things to try
- Check Seafield, Sighthill and Craigmillar. They are all open seven days a week for booked slots: see Edinburgh tips
- Check for a same-day slot, which the council says are often available
- If you have a van, remember the van slots are 11am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm, and there are no vans at Craigmillar
- Small amounts on foot or by bike need no booking, except at Craigmillar
Other ways to get rid of it
| Route | Good for | Cost on the pages we checked |
|---|---|---|
| The council bulky uplift | Up to 5 large items from the pavement | £5 per item, free with Council Tax reduction |
| Licensed rubbish removal | A van load or a mix of things | About £60 to £100 for a small load as a UK guide |
| Single item removal | One awkward item | Often £35 to £80 |
What not to do
Do not leave items outside the tip or on the street. The council can issue a £200 fixed penalty for fly-tipping: see fly-tipping and your duty of care.
