Can't get a Bristol tip slot? What to do
Booked up at the Bristol tips? Here are your options, checked against Bristol City Council and Bristol Waste Company pages on 29 October 2026.
- Slots can be booked up to 2 weeks ahead, or 1 hour before if any are free
- The council asks people to cancel early so a slot can be reassigned, so check again later
- Cyclists do not need to book, and nor do people on foot at Hartcliffe Way
- Phone 0117 922 2100 if you cannot use the website
- Never dump items outside a tip

Things to try
- Check a different site and a different day. Each tip is open five days a week, on different days: see the Bristol tips guide
- Check again closer to the day, because you can book up to an hour before if slots are free
- Check again after a few hours, because the council asks people to cancel early so slots can go to someone else
- Phone 0117 922 2100, Monday to Friday 8.30am to 6pm (closed midday to 1.30pm on Wednesdays), if the website will not work for you
On foot or by bike
The council says cyclists do not need to book and can ride in at any site with photo ID and proof of a Bristol address, and that people visiting Hartcliffe Way on foot do not need to book either. That only suits small amounts. See Hartcliffe Way tip.
Other ways to get rid of it
| Route | Good for | Cost on the pages we checked |
|---|---|---|
| The council bulky collection | Furniture and appliances, collected from your kerb | £27 for up to 3 items, £52 for 4 to 6 |
| Licensed rubbish removal | A van load or a mix of things | About £60 to £100 for a small load as a UK guide |
| Single item removal | One awkward item | Often £35 to £80 |
What not to do
Do not leave items outside the tip or on the street. The council says fly-tipping can bring a fine of up to £50,000, and a £400 fixed penalty or an unlimited court fine if someone dumps waste on your behalf. See fly-tipping fines in Bristol.
